WHAT IS YOGA?

Hatha Yoga is a Sanskrit term for philosophic, spiritual, and physical practices originating in ancient India. Yoga as practiced in America today is primarily a physical practice of postures (asanas) which are influenced by modern Indian gymnastics and wrestling. Considered to be a path of Self-development and Self-discovery, Hatha yoga employs practices of personal and social conduct, postures, breath (pranayama), and deeply focused concentration, meditation and relaxation.  Hatha Yoga literally means to be at once powerful, clear, and surrendered, and classes are intended to open the student to her/his full potential.
