About Lucy T. Holmes, E-RYT 500
Lucy has studied extensively with many renowned teachers of the Iyengar, Anusara, and Astanga schools. Her strongest influences include Rodney Yee, Richard Rosen, Ramanand Patel, Judith Lasater, John Friend, and Beryl Bender Birch. In 1994 she completed her Kripalu month-long 200-hour teacher training, and in 2002 she moved to Oakland, California in order to participate in an 18-month, 780-hour Advanced Teacher Training at the Piedmont Yoga Studio www.piedmontyoga.com She graduated in 2003 and returned to teaching in St. Louis in 2004. Lucy continues to deepen her knowledge with Mary Paffard www.maryyoga.com as well as Matthew Krepps (Dynamic Yoga) www.barefootstudio.com
Lucy has been an owner of two yoga studios in the St. Louis area. In 1994 she co-founded the Big Bend Center for Yoga with three fellow St. Louis teachers, and in 1997 she opened her own studio, Experience Yoga!, where yoga, massage therapy, meditation, and Tai Chi was offered to the community. Currently Lucy teaches at four locations. Her teaching style is informed by her passion for music, dance, philosophy, and nature, as well as the fifteen years she spent as a professional massage therapist (she was nationally certified and state licensed). Her technical background includes extensive study of anatomy and physiology and Katherine Dunham dance. Her spiritual influences include Buddhism and Native American ceremonies.
Gentle and compassionate with beginners, Lucy can also challenge and empower experienced practitioners. She loves sharing yoga, and uses humor, philosophy, and a strong intuitive sense to create space for self-discovery and insight to emerge.
